NoteSeal is provided by Samuel Hertz. This notice describes the app, this website, and support messages.
Notes and dictation
Dictation, transcription, and note drafting take place on your iPhone. Notes and transcripts are stored locally using iOS file protection. The app’s clinical store is excluded from device backups. NoteSeal does not upload clinical content to Samuel Hertz.
Microphone access is used for dictation. Temporary audio is deleted when transcription finishes; the transcript remains with your draft. If transcription fails, the recording stays on your device only until you try again, discard it, or reopen NoteSeal. Optional calendar access reads event start and end times, without reading titles, attendees, or notes or changing events. iOS calls this permission “full access.” Apple handles biometric authentication; NoteSeal does not receive your biometric data.
Subscriptions and free notes
Apple processes subscriptions and payments under Apple’s privacy policy. NoteSeal checks subscription status on your device and does not receive payment-card details. A device-only keychain counter remembers the number of free notes used, including after reinstalling the app or deleting app data. The counter contains no note content or client details.
Optional crash reports
If you enable sharing with app developers in your Apple device settings, Apple may make technical crash reports available to us. We use these reports to investigate app failures. NoteSeal has no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Its diagnostic messages are designed to exclude note and transcript content.
NoteSeal also keeps, on your device, the system's crash reports for its own crashes and a log of app events such as "note saved" or "export opened". They leave your device only if you attach them to an email from Settings → Send feedback, and you can read them before sending. They contain code locations, error codes and event names, not note or transcript content.
Feedback and review reminders
NoteSeal keeps a small amount of engagement information on your device, including completed-export counts, export days, feedback-reminder dismissal and the last review-request date. This controls when reminders appear. It is not sent to Samuel Hertz. Delete everything resets this engagement information. Apple controls whether its review prompt appears and handles any App Store review you choose to submit.
Exports and deletion
Copying, exporting, or sharing creates copies wherever you choose to send them. Deleting data in NoteSeal removes the app’s clinical records, but does not delete those external copies, reset the count of free notes used, or cancel an Apple subscription.
We cannot recover local notes from a lost or erased device. Your practice’s record system remains the place to keep your completed clinical record.
This website and support messages
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical connection information needed to deliver the pages. We have not added analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels, or a contact form.
Support email is handled through Apple iCloud Mail. When you email us, we receive your email address and the information you send. Please do not send client information, notes, transcripts, clinical screenshots, or export files. We use support messages to respond to your request and delete the conversation after resolution.
If you choose to contact Sam through Messages, Apple handles delivery using iMessage or SMS as available. We receive your phone number or Messages email address and the information you choose to send. The app prepares an editable feedback draft with its version; it does not automatically send it or attach diagnostic files. Please do not send client information, notes, transcripts, clinical screenshots, or export files. We use these messages to respond to your request and delete the conversation after resolution.
Audience and changes
NoteSeal is intended for clinicians and is not directed at children. We will post updates to this policy here with a revised date.
